Our obsession with Turkish culture originally started with a search for vibrant Turkish mosaic glass lamps. At the 2025 Oklahoma State Fair, our favorite lamp vendor gave us the ultimate insider tip: track down the Turkish Delight food truck. We took the advice, hunted down the truck, and ordered their beef and chicken sandwiches. The generous portions and rich spices had us hooked instantly. When the crew mentioned plans to open a full-service location in Edmond the following year, we immediately marked our calendars.
Fast forward to August 2026, and we finally sat down at the brand-new Turkish Delight restaurant in Edmond. We kicked off our meal with the Meze Platter appetizer, which pairs warm naan-style pita bread with a sampling of four classic dips: babaganoush, muhammara, hummus, and haydari. The undisputed star of the starter round was the muhammara, a slightly spicy roasted red bell pepper and walnut dip packed with garlic and seasoning. Coming in at a very close second was the haydari, a creamy, cool yogurt-based dip similar to Greek tzatziki. The smoky babaganoush and smooth hummus rounded out an exceptional opening course.

For our entrees, we sampled a broad cross-section of the menu by selecting the Shrimp Tava, the Chicken Shish, and the Iskender. The Iskender was the undisputed winner of the table—marinated beef doner meat served over buttered toasted bread, all smothered in homemade tomato sauce and rich yogurt to create a hot, rich, and deeply comforting dish. The Shrimp Tava delivered a comforting stew-like mixture of tender shrimp, tomatoes, red peppers, and rich butter, while the Chicken Shish featured juicy, flame-grilled marinated chicken thighs with a fantastic smoky char. On our next visit, we already plan to order the massive Mixed Kebab Grill Platter so a group of us can sample an even wider spread of Turkish classics, including adana kebab, lamb chops, cheese pide, and lahmacun.

You simply cannot leave without indulging in dessert. We ordered both the Pistachio Baklava and the Kunefe, accompanying them with traditional Turkish coffee. Served in tiny cups and brewed directly with the coffee grounds, the coffee is impressively strong and punchy. The Pistachio Baklava was perfectly crisp and flaky, but the Kunefe is an absolute must-experience dessert. Made of shredded filo dough stuffed with melted homemade sweet cheese, baked in syrup, and topped with pistachios and clotted cream, it eats like a rich, sweet cheese pie covered in a crispy shell. It is exceptionally rich and easily large enough to share among two to three people.

Since we dined early on a Friday evening, we caught the live music performers setting up their equipment just as we were finishing. If you want to experience the live entertainment while you dine, make sure to arrive around 7:00 PM. Turkish Delight has instantly earned a spot as a new favorite among our OKC metro dining spots and easily takes our top pick for regional Turkish cuisine. We will definitely be regular customers at their Edmond restaurant, and we will certainly be hunting down their food truck at this year's Oklahoma State Fair and many more to come.
