When you live in a landlocked city like OKC, being an oyster lover can be tough. Luckily, The Drake has you covered. Located on NW 23rd & Walker, The Drake is owned by A Good Egg Dining Group, who also owns many of our other favorite restaurants such as Cheevers and Iron Star, so you know you're in for a upscale dining experience.
For dinner, we had the Lobster Bisque, Drake Crab Cake, Traditional Shrimp Cocktail, Blackened Redfish, and of course ordered a dozen oysters from a selection of locations across the US. If you have someone in your group who isn't a seafood person, don't fret, they're in good hands—we also ordered the Uptown Double Cheeseburger. We paired our meal with a Moscow Mule, Pim's Cup, and a Blood Mary. Our dinner was also a birthday celebration, so we walked away with a Bananas Foster Bread Pudding on the house!
If you're looking to further your oyster knowledge, The Drake is a great place to start. Their wide variety of oysters from across North America is a part of their sustainable seafood philosophy. That means you can create a custom order of oysters from Massachusetts, Louisiana, Washington, Canada, and more! Our favorites were the Blue Point oysters followed by some from New Orleans.
The Drake Crab Cake was great, but we weren't crazy about the Lobster Bisque. The Uptown Double Cheeseburger was a fantastic alternative to the seafood selections...we recommend trying it even if you're going for the seafood. We, admittedly, had seconds on the drinks, and the rich Bananas Foster Bread Pudding with homemade cream had to be taken home, which turned into a two-day project to finish off.
The Drake's ambiance is open & modern. The high, semicircular booths are visually interesting, and the tall, floor-to-ceiling windows provide a "big-city" view, particularly at dusk, as traffic passes by right off of 23rd Street. The Drake makes a great option to show off to guests what Oklahoma City has to offer!
