Legend's Restaurant in Norman is an upscale & cozy dining venue, and a wonderful place to bring visitors, celebrate an anniversary, or just enjoy a quiet night out in a classic environment. We visited back in July with a special menu request—which the restaurant happily obliged—so we're here to tell you about this famous Norman restaurant.

Located on Norman's Lindsey St, you'll find the restaurant just before entering OU's campus. The restaurant has long been a Norman venue—now going on its 54th year.

The age of the restaurant is readily apparent—and that's a compliment. It has an old-school, classy charm. You can tell the restaurant is established—not some new, unproven venture testing out the waters. Legend's has remained through the years. Rich wood, soft lighting punctuated with table candles, and fresh flowers communicate a cozy, traditional atmosphere. A large piano sits in the middle of the restaurant; and yes, there's often a professional pianist there to play while you dine.

Legend's famous homemade cakes & pies—Coca Cola cake, bread pudding, chocolate amaretto, and more—are proudly displayed on a tile counter just as you enter—a reminder to leave room for a slice after dinner.

If you've been to Legend's prior to 2020, you'll remember their salad bar. It was always fresh & clean, not extravagantly large, but yet another of the things we really enjoyed about the restaurant. Unfortunately, it became a victim to Covid-era precautions, and is no longer there. We hope they bring it back someday. Instead, we replaced our usual trip to the salad bar with wedge salads delivered to the table.

We were really craving pasta carbonara (an alfredo-like pasta with bacon & egg—trust us, it's great), but didn't see it offered on the menu while planning our visit. We called ahead to see if they could make it—they told us it used to be on the menu, so they hadn't had the opportunity make it in awhile. The head chef told us she'd be thrilled to make it for us, and they'd have all the ingredients ready just for our visit!

The carbonara was really amazing. Even those at our table who'd never had it said it would be their first choice on a return visit. If you're a fan, we'd definitely recommend calling ahead to see if they'll make it for you. Like the salad bar, we hope the carbonara will make a return to the menu.

Our dinner was accompanied by Dark & Stormy Moscow Mules, and followed up with Chocolate Amaretto cake and bread pudding (take home, of course).

Legend's really is a best-in-show of Oklahoma's locally-owned offerings. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is top-notch. Its intimate atmosphere is great to enjoy with loved ones, and makes for a warm experience during the colder holiday months for family get-togethers.
